INTERNATIONAL  ANTI -  CORRUPTION  DAY


SIGNIFICANCE : 

          International Anti - Corruption Day is a Global observance. It has been observed  annually  on  9th  of  December every  year, since  the  passage  of  United Nations  convention  against corruption  on 31st  October  2003  to  raise  public  awareness for Anti  corruption. It  concerns about  seriousness  of  problems  and threats posed  by  corruption  for  stability  and  security  of societies,  values  of  democracy and  ethical  values. International anti corruption   promotes measures to prevent corruption more effectively and efficiently. It promotes Integrity, Accountability and proper management of public affairs and public property.

YOUR NO COUNT CAMPAIGN : 
         The  'YOUR NO COUNT' campaign  is  a joint  international campaign  created  by  the 'UNITED  NATIONS  DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME' (UNDP)  and the  'UNITED  NATIONS  OFFICE ON DRUGS  AND CRIMES' to  mark 'INTERNATIONAL  ANTI CORRUPTION  DAY'  on  December  9th  to impart  awareness  to masses  about  its adverse  effect  and  to  minimize  problems caused  by  it  and  to  fight  against  it.

CORRUPTION : 

           Corruption  is  a serious and  complex  crime that undermine social  political  and  economic  phenomenon  of  all the countries and  societies. It is a dishonest and criminal  action  that  destroys  people's  trust.  It  include  Bribery  and Embezzlement. It  shows negative impact  on  poorest  and  the  most  vulnerable  in  the society  to  the  large  extent. Common people  will  be  more effected  by  the corruption. One  in  four  people  around the world say  that  they  had  to  pay  a  bribe  to access  public  service. It effects education, Health, Justice, Democracy, Prosperity  and Development. No  Country,  Religion  or community  is  immune  to this  crime.

 EFFECTS  OF  CORRUPTION :

          Corruption  reduces  the  returns  of productive  activity. Corruption  creates  the opportunity   for   increasing  inequality. This inequality  generates  psychological  frustration to  the  under privileged. It  reduces  productivity  growth  investment  and  job opportunities.

CAUSE  OF  CORRUPTION : 

          Stephen D. Morris  a  professor  of  politics,  writes  that political  corruption  is  the illegitimate   use  of  public  power  to  the benefit  of  private  interest.  According  to  2017  survey,  following are  the  causes  for  corruption. They  are
1. Greed  of  money,  power,  luxury  and  other materialistic  desires.
2. Low  levels  of  Democracy,  weak  civil participation, Higher levels  of  Bureaucracy and  inefficient  administration  structures, low levels  of  education.

TYPES OF CORRUPTION : 

        Corruption is  present  in  each  and  every sections. so corruption  is of many types. That is  Bribery  embezzlement,  theft,  fraud,  Extortion,  black   mail,  favoritism  , nepotism, political corruption,  corruption  in  educational system,  corporate corruption,  judicial corruption.

BRIBERY : 

           Bribery  involves  the  improper  use  of gifts  and  favours   in exchange  for  personal gain. It  is  the  common  form  of corruption. It includes  money,  gifts,  employment  and  political benefits.

EXTORTION & BLACK MAIL : 

           While  Bribery  is  the  use  of  positive inducements  for corrupt  aims, Extortion  and black  mails  are  use  of  threats. This can  be threat  of  violence  as  well  as  exposure  of individual secrets.

FAVOURITISM & NEPOTISM : 

             Favouritism  and  Nepotism  involves favouring  the persons  who  are  related  to the  corruption. such  as  friend, family member  or  an  association  member. For example  hiring  a  family member  or  friend  to  a  role  they  are  not  qualified  for.

ROLE  OF  ANTI - CORRUPTION  AGAINST CORRUPTION : 

           It  is  the  power  of  people's pressure. We  people  together are  united  against corruption  for  development,  peace  and security.

         Corruption  is  a  true  enemy  for development. When common  people  fight  back  against corruption, They  can  make  a real  difference. so  on  this  anti  corruption  day,  we  would  like  to invite  all  political  leaders, governments,  legal bodies  to  work together against  corruption  and  to  take  part  in helping  the  world fairer  and  more sustainable  place  to  live

  INDIAN   NATIONAL   FLAG          The Indian National flag repr- esents the hopes and Aspirations of the people of India. It is the symbol of our National pride and one of the most respected symbols over the last seven decades. Millions of people including members of Armed forces have laid down their lives to keep the Tri colour flag flying in to its full glory.                 The present flag of india is the most tangible and potent symbol of freedom. It was adopted in its present form during the meeting of constituent assembly held on 22nd June,1947. It was a Tri colour flag of deep   Saffron   at top,  white   in the middle and dark   Green   at the bottom in equal proportions. In the centre of the middle white strip, a navy blue wheel is present, which represents   Ashoka's Dharma chakra   which depicted the 'Wheel of Law' in the  Sarnath Lion capital   made by 3rd century BC Mauryan Emperor Ashoka.
